| Jimmy
Needham Recording
artist, Jimmy Needham will be joining me at some events on the
book tour for CLOSER THAN YOUR SKIN. I heard Jimmy’s song
“Dearly Loved” on the radio as I drove along one day. I was
moved by his lyrics and put some of them in the beginning of the
book. Another day, I heard him interview on the radio and
thought I’d call him up to see if he wanted to work together. We
write on some of the same themes. His current album, SPEAK, has
three hit songs, and his next album …BUT NOT WITHOUT LOVE, should be
just as great. He’s written a song called “Forgiven and Loved”
which is all about the problem of condemnation that I wrote
about in Chapter Six of the book. Check out his music and "The

The father thing matters. Don Miller, author of
Blue Like Jazz, helped start a mentoring program that’s
an offshoot of Imago Dei Community, his church. The program is
called The Belmont Foundation and “seeks to effectively respond
to the American crisis of fatherlessness by equipping the faith
community to provide life long, trust based mentoring
relationships with young men in an effort to affect long-term
change.”
Mike McDonald of the Foundation said “If every church in the
U.S. was mentoring ten fatherless kids we would mentor over 3
